Up for bid is my only prized possession (besides my girlfriend of course)… this Gibson Les Paul Standard is a 1981 model, mahogany finish, chrome hardware, all original, no change of pickups, keys, notta. She is not blemish free, but she has not been mistreated either. No real “buckle marks” on the back, only a few blemishes in the clear coat. The neck is not worn (more pics available upon request). I am showing the major photos as to be as clear and honest as I can. Pleas e-mail for more pics. The one’s depicting the upper neck, both sides, this seems to be where it was hung from a wall hanger (she is heavy) the clear cote has smudged from the horns of the hanger. The pics showing the “separation” (upper neck near headstock) has always been there since I purchased it in 1998. She stays in tune and has that sweet Gibson hum-bucker sound when ran clean, and that thick heavy when distortion is used. I personally love the middle of the road Billy Gibbon’s sound she can produce, very silky smooth and just enough heavy to feel bold and beautiful.
I have been the owner of this guitar since approx. 1998. I am the 3rd owner… it has been in a smoke free environment its entire life, no night clubbing or used in a traveling band... I am no guitar god nor am I going to try and B.S. my way around it. It was mostly kept in a closet in its case from 85-98, the family from which this guitar originated had excellent musical talents, the second owner was definitely blessed; I am just a player, not born with it. I have had it mostly out of its case since I have owned it, either hung on the wall or on its stand… or in my lap.
The original case is included and it does look like new.
I love this guitar and the reason I am selling is because of our great economy and the need for money and the bills I have accumulated. BUT I will not give’er away.I will set the reserve price at $950 and $50.00 shipping anywhere in the U.S.A.As a bonus to the winner if the auction price goes above $1,400 I will ship for free anywhere in the U.S.A. I do have her for sale locally so I have the right to end this auction early. I hope she goes to a good home and is treated with as much admiration as I have had for her.
A few months back an identical guitar went for $1600, mine is in better cosmetic shape than it was, and I stand behind the way she sounds… beautiful.
I have a 100% feedback rating for a reason, I describe my auctions as they are, no B.S., honesty is the key.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I will respond promptly.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding. On Jun-15-11 at 22:58:58 PDT, seller added the following information: The color is the wine red edition, the pics do not do the color/ finish justice. I will take some more pics in the sun, email me for those.
